Protocol for Exercising at Portmarnock Raceway

Wednesday 20th May 2020

Following An Taoiseach’s announcement on Friday 1st May, Portmarnock Raceway is permitted to reopen under phase one of the government’s roadmap to lift restrictions. The IHRA will reopen Portmarnock Raceway from this coming Thursday 21st May, but under the following strict guidelines for all trainers to abide by.

Any trainer wishing to use the facility will have to contact the IHRA office (10.00-11.30) daily and book their preferred day and time or alternatively you may email the office at [email protected] .

Any email received before 12noon will be contacted on that day with confirmation of booking. Any email received after 12noon will receive their confirmation of booking on the following day.

There will be only two time frames to work out;

  • 9am – 12 noon
  • 12 noon – 3pm

A maximum of four trainers will be allowed to use the facility at any one time. Trainers must abide by social distancing and not interact with any other persons on site, whilst they are there.

A fee of €10 per horse up to maximum of €40 per trainer will be charged to any trainer wishing to use the facility. This payment may be made while booking your preferred time to use the facility or upon arrival to the track to the designated track management in operation. The purpose of the fee is to cover the cost on the IHRA of the management and maintenance of the facility.

Only horses that are registered in training may work out on the track. Any trainer yet to declare such horses, if any, may still do so via the website.

Only trainers who receive a confirmation email from the office will be allowed enter the track.

Upon your arrival to the track and should the gates be locked, please ring Andrew on (086) 871 9662 to gain access.

Please respect current government guidelines with respect to cough/tissue etiquette, wash your hands regularly, do not touch your face and most importantly, DO NOT come to the track if you have symptoms of coughing, cold, temperatures or shortness of breath.
