THE VINCENT DELANEY MEMORIAL 2 YEAR OLD CLASSIC
To be held at PORTMARNOCK RACEWAY in August 2012
Estimated Prizefund €9,000
Nominations € 100 – Deadline Feb 1st
Sustaining Fee €50 – Deadline March 1st
Final Sustaining Fee €50 – Deadline April 1st
(Late Supplementary Entry – €500 can be paid up to 7 days before the Classic)
Conditions: fillies and colts will be separated in heats, with fillies receiving preferred positions on the starting gate in the final. If there is less than 10 runners for the Classic, a straight race will be run with fillies receiving preferred positions on the starting gate. Gate positions will be drawn on the day
There will also be 2 sponsored prep races to be run at Portmarnock Raceway in advance of the Vincent Delaney Classic and both of these will have €1000 added money to entries. These races are designed for 2 year olds to gain valuable experience in the run up to the Classic. Please note: Fully paid up entries do not have to partake in the prep races in order to race in the Classic, but only fully paid up entries can enter in the prep races.
The Vincent Delaney Memorial 2 Year Old Classic series is sponsored by the family and friends of Vincent is set to become an annual event in Ireland to encourage the training and racing of 2 year olds in Ireland. Remembering there is a 70% reduction in monies won as a 2 year old, this is a golden opportunity to remain potentially well handicapped as a 3 year old.
Advance notice of this event is hereby given in an attempt to attract maximum interest in the Classic and to give horseowners plenty of time to break-in yearlings and plan ahead.
More Information such as proposed date of all races will be published in the coming weeks (when the IHRC and BHRC officially confirm all meeting dates for the 2012 racing calendar)
All nominations and sustaining payments will be recieved by the IHRC who will oversee the running of the event.
