- A mandatory minimum of three samples will be taken at each race meeting. At premium meetings such as Dundalk, Ladbrokes Vincent Delaney Memorial & Barney Joyce Memorial an increased program will be decided by the IHRA.
- Two tests must be for winning horses and the third shall be for a placed horse.
- Races will be selected by random draw in sealed date stamped envelopes containing the Race Numbers of all races on the card. A further open ballot of the three selected envelopes will determine which two tests are to be for winning horses and the remaining one will be for a placed horse, the envelopes are then marked “Winner, Winner & Placed”.
- The selected envelopes are then handed to the Veterinary Surgeon on duty and opened after the commencement of the first race, the envelopes which are not drawn will be held by the Chief Steward to be opened after the last race to verify the integrity of this process.
- IHRA Stewards reserve the right to request additional samples to be taken in addition to the above process at any fixture.
- This process is a random sampling random testing procedure.
