C Class Allowance Changes Ahead of the 2021 Season…

rule update

The following changes have been made to the existing C Class allowance ahead of the upcoming racing season. This rule change has been discussed, and agreed at committee level and subsequently ratified by the board to come into affect immediately.

All current Apprentice Drivers will be requested to attend a webinar with the IHRA stewards in the near future to discuss these changes which can be seen below:

  • All drivers currently in C class over the age of 25 will be treated as having the Amateur Allowance whilst drivers 25 or under will be treated as having the Apprentice Allowance.
  • All existing drivers, 25 or under, will receive a 50% cut on their lifetime wins, and this is there current driving credit. These drivers then have until they reach 10 such driving credits until they move up into the B class.
  • Any apprentice or amateur driver, winning at a premium day will not have their win put towards the credit system as no grade drop will be given at these fixtures.
  • All apprentice and amateur drivers will not have any wins in a grade G, G1,F or in the apprentice championship included in their accumulated credited wins.
  • It was agreed that all apprentice drivers will be requested to send a copy of a birth cert and/or passport upon applying for their driving licences going forward.
