HARNESS RACING GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR DUNDALK
The Irish Harness Racing Association today (9th September 2015) announced that a programme of ten high quality trotting and pacing races will take place at Dundalk Stadium, Co. Louth on Sunday 27th September, following government backing and the support of Horse Racing Ireland and Dundalk Stadium.
Mark Flanagan, Chairman of The Irish Harness Racing Association said: “Having previously held two highly successful harness racing meetings in 2008 at Dundalk Stadium we are delighted to return to this state of the art venue and showcase our sport. This meeting has huge significance as the French governing authority for Trotting ‘Le-Trot’ has indicated their attendance at this historic meeting in Dundalk and consideration of a closer relationship with harness racing in Ireland. We look forward to an exciting race day on Sunday 27th September and the start of an enduring partnership with Dundalk Stadium.”
Jim Martin, Chief Executive of Dundalk Stadium states: “We have always shown our desire to host harness racing at Dundalk and we welcome the return of harness racing to our venue alongside thoroughbred and greyhound racing. We have excellent facilities both on and off course and we look forward to sharing these with The Irish Harness Racing Association and their sporting enthusiasts.”
This landmark meeting will commence at 2pm on Sunday 27th September 2015 at Dundalk Stadium, Racecourse Road, Dundalk, Co Louth.
